My earlier career was teaching art in secondary schools in Merseyside, Tyneside and Northumberland. I later became County Coordinator (Arts and Crafts) for Cumbria’s Adult Education Service. I teach printmaking courses at Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre. In 2011, Lancaster University Medical School introduced life drawing as part of medical students’ training, I have taught these sessions, using older models, aiming to counteract the idealised, computerised images with which students are familiar. Since being awarded an MA (Contemporary Arts Practice) in 2001, I have developed my printing practice to include both relief and etching methods.
The Columbian Press
Relief prints are made on this magnificent Columbian Press. These presses were invented in 1813 by the American George Clymer. This one was manufactured in Edinburgh in the 1850s.
